Animating Democracy Pre-Conference

Presented by ANIMATING DEMOCRACY,a program of Americans for the Arts

Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.  And in our current political climate, it’s more important than ever to ensure that a wide range of voices be heard in shaping our community. Many of us are advocates. But how do you know your advocacy is working?

Build your civic engagement and advocacy muscles at this interactive workshop led by national advocacy leader and Animating Democracy Co-Founder Barbara Schaffer Bacon, featuring key concepts, principles, and practices of  advocacy as demonstrated via project examples, video, and lively exchange. Learn to maximize engagement opportunities through program design and community partnerships and how to track the impact of your engagement and advocacy to measure success.

Participants will have the opportunity to share projects in progress or that have potential in their communities, as well as to troubleshoot planning and project roadblocks with colleagues.

Registration is $30. Seating is limited; register your organization today!
